How to Save Yourself from the My First Video Virus on Facebook

If you have been affected by the 'My First Video' virus on Facebook, this post is just for you. A small change in the settings of Facebook and Google Chrome you can save yourself from this virus. The virus automatically sends a message to a friend asking them to click upon a video link to which a virus is attached. It is not the first time the Facebook has been attacked by a virus. A similar virus has previously attacked many Facebook accounts.

How is this virus a harmful one?

The 'my first video' virus automatically sends mesaage to people in your friendlist through your account without your consent. And, wgen the other user tries to watch the video, the virus enters into his acount too and the process repeats. Also, the user find himself unable to logout from his account from that computer. Also, in many cases, there have been complains of some non conventional post to ones account.


It Also Stops You From Changing Your Accounts Password


This virus captures your account in such a way that you cannot logout from your account and, even, you cannot change your facebook account's password. The virus not only affects your Facebook account, but also your Pc on which you used your account. This is the reason the user cannot change the accounts password through that PC.



The video link opens a Chrome Extension Page

The 'my first video' virus works through an extension. Chrome Extension works just like a smartphone app that is used on a PC. Any person who click on the 'My First Video' link, a new webpage opens in front of him. The webpage doesn't contains any video, but an extension that automatically gets uploaded on your chrome. According to the cyber experts, the virus not only affects your computer, but also collects information of the websites you visit.

How to check these harmful Extensions

Recognising these harmful extension is too easy. For this, go to Google Chrome settings. Here, on the left side, below history, there is an option of extension. When you click on this option, a list of all the extensions installed over the chrome appears. If you see any extension you don't remember installing, that may be the virus extension. Clicking over the detail, it will show you the details of accessibility of that extension. You can also disable and delete that extension from here.


Be Aware of The Apps on the Facebook

Along with the game apps, there are a lot of apps on Facebook, that not only tells the marriage date of person, but also the number of kids they are gonna have. Even they tells you some intresting facts about your previous or next life. But, these apps are famous for deleting users data, sharing personal information with advertising companies and posting on user's page without their consent.


Protection is not hard

User can check lists of apps using Facebook login. You can go into the Facebook setting and can delete these apps. Just go in the settings. Here, when scrolled down, there is an option of apps. Clicking on this option, comes a list of apps that have logged in through your Facebook Account. Clicking on each app tells you the level to which the app can look into your account. The harmful apps can be removed by clicking on the cross sign beside it.
